Image
By John Danfulani,Ph.D Jondanfulani@gmail.com On 11th July 2016, I officially notified the management and Council of Kaduna State University(KASU) my intention to withdraw my services to the school in tandem with section 16(1) Kaduna State University Staff Conditions of Service. On 9th August 2016,I received approval of my dated 11th July 2016 effective from 11th October 2016. My decision to leave KASU after 6yrs of service was predicated on an unethical query issued to me on 6th January 2016. And an illegal suspension of services that followed two days later. My suspension from duty was premised on "my refusal" to answer their query of 5th not 6th January 2016. Records shows that, there was no communication between myself and KASU on the 5th January 2016. The only correspondence between us was on 6th January 2016, and I complied within the time limit given. Despite evidences of three different acknowledgements (VC, Registrar, and Head of Department o

BY PRINCE CHUX DAVIX DANIELS mynameisnigeria@gmail.com Prince Chux Davix Daniel In  a society where wickedness and deceits prevail and reign supreme, the people prefer to solemnly depend on Karma whose judgment and adjudication of wrong is retributive without sentiments. When former super eagle player Sam Sodje made wave and played his mind out in compatriot assignment to his fatherland before he proceeded to play international foot ball, little did he  know his career was going to witness series of betrayals and set up by a certain promoter whose ways are embedded in dubious activities. His efforts aspirations and vision to retire at the right age in football dwindled when he met Shiekh'Mazher Mahmood. A fraudulent promoter whose ways of beguiling innocent players and ripping them off their sweat  is legendary. Mahmood who flew in and arranged a meeting in dubai with their sponsors for a charity  match in furtherance to their foundation which  he (Sam Sodje a

RESTRUCTURING NIGERIA: THE FATE OF SOUTHERN KADUNA PEOPLE IS HANGING

Image
BY NASIRU JAGABA jagabanasiru@gmail.com By the day the agitations for the restructuring of the Nigerian nation-state is gaining grounds; with high profile personalities like the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar using different platforms to advocate for it. This has brought to the fore again the question of the basis on which the 1914 amalgamation of Southern and Northern protectorate took place. This again raises the question, is Nigeria just a mere geographical expression?  From our historical antecedence since 1914; it has become clear that the amalgamation of the protectorates was only carried out by Lord Frederick Luggard for administrative and exploitative convenience. This was done without due consultation with input of and seeking consensus among the various ethnic nationalities. No wonder the prediction of the dismemberment of Nigeria after one hundred years (2015) was highly anticipated, but thank God it never came to pass. The ethnic nation

2019; SO FAR, YET SO CLOSE

By David Jesse Tanko (jessedavid76@yahoo.com) The just concluded election in Edo State Nigeria was indeed a bitterly contested election, the election which was slated for 10th September 2016, was postponed to 28th September on the grounds of security intelligence report that was jointly announced by the Department of State Service (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force. The election in Edo State was a test on our democratic processes and principles; again it was a test to ascertain the strength and weaknesses of our independent electoral body (INEC), and also a litmus test on how the 2019 general elections in the country might turn out to be. Agree to it or not, the build up to 2019 elections has long began, trust our politicians their thoughts are on the next election, not the next generation. Already, serious consultation, meetings, familiarity and courtesy visit are been done with men and women that matters, the drama and melodrama happening at the top leadership hierar

@56 NIGERIA HAVE BEEN PLACED ON A REVERSE GEAR.

By NOAH GARBA AUDU(NGA) audujangbajr@yahoo.com When GMB over throne a democratically elected government of president Shahu Shagari, even after becoming the then military president, he kept on blaming Shahu Shagari for Nigerian problem instead of fixing the problem. PMB have brought a new slogan,"CHANGE BEGINS WITH ME", same president Buhari that said  CHANGE has not CHANGED. Recently he said,"I WILL KEEP BLAMING THE PAST GOVERNMENT FOR NIGERIA PROBLEM", little did PMB  realized that he can't be exonerated from the present problem of Nigeria because he was once a military president. Ever since this administration took over power, the followings are on the reverse gear: (1)Exchange rate of Naira to Dollar is on a reverse gear. (2)Employment opportunities have been placed on a reverse gear by the day. (3)Stability in food produce and prices are on a reverse gear. (4)Freedom of speech is on a reverse gear by using EFCC to silent appositio

BY Dcn. Dr POLYCARP GANKON Fellow Citizens Of Kaduna State, I am not Congratulating you today because my heart is heavy with burden and Concern seeing the level of pains, suffering, chains, lack, poverty and the magnitude of bondage we have been thrown into by the present APC lead Administration. So many have wondered why I have been silent over time, I want to assure you, my silence is for good, as I made up my mind not to say anything till enough time has been provided to clear doubts on what we knew and foresaw coming, now we speak with boldness coupled with facts and evidences on the level of insensitivity, anti-people policies, gross nepotism and the pleasure this government derives in seeing it citizens suffer. Today, my heart is heavy seeing the standard of naira continually falling, the level of recession is alarming, and yet with the hardship, somebody that was elected to serve the people is thinking and working hard to render the vast majority of the populace

BY USMAN OKAI AUSTIN Ahead of release of water from the Kainji Dam and the possible flooding of some flood prone areas which involved about nine local government areas in Kogi state by NIMET, an opinion maunder has condemned the lackluster attitude of the state government towards the welfare of the affected areas only to sound a note of warning for their relocation.
