The decision of Kogi State government to go ahead with constitution of Judicial Commission of inquiry to probe contracts awarded by the previous administration and classified as abandoned has been described as diversionary, politically motivated and ill timed to rubbish the well intended posture to develop the state.

The Peoples Democratic Party National Youth Frontier PDPNYF dropped this condemnation against the backdrop of the inauguration of the kangaroo inquiry whose members consists of friends, relations and political associate aimed at indicting the previous regime.

The group stated that the action of the government in its entirety is laughable by deploying political weapons to settle party differences, saying no single projects of the previous administration was abandoned as virtually all were running.

They challenged the Yahaya Bello led administration to give account of the monies collected since the inception of his administration which ranges from special funds, Twenty Billion Naira (N20 billion) bailout funds meant to settle arrears of workers salaries, Ten Billion Naira (N10 billion) infrastructure funds, UBEC project funds and various illegal deductions made from council funds since its inception.

The group said an avarice and corrupt government like that of governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has no moral courage and temerity to challenge a sane governance exhibited during the immediate past administration.

It wondered the parameter Yahaya Bello will deploy with a view to arriving at a premeditated and prepositioned inquiry that consultants and review committee are simultaneously dissipating empty energies to unravel nothing, saying it is a ploy to review upward and blacklist the transparent nature of the previous administration.

The group dared the present administration in Kogi State that it will resist any attempt to drag into the mud the well intended motives of the previous administration on the alter of sectional, tribal and political exigencies capable of rubbishing the hard earned image of our leaders in the last administration.

They advised the government not to waste more funds meant to carryout social activities, economic enhancement of the populace into flimsy issues that boarders on selfish interest to satisfy the yearnings and aspirations of its whims and caprices, warning of the consequences.

He urged the government to deploy its energies to source for funds and pay arrears of worker's salaries of the state civil servants and pensioners denied them for the past eight months under the guise of endless screening after collecting federal allocations for the months and excess funds along with other special funds ‎meant for the welfare of the state workforce.

The group reminded the Kogi government that projects awarded by the immediate past administration were either completed, bonded or on a contractor-finance agreement while the Alhaji Ibrahim Idris administration projects were also completed by the administration within the period of its tenure, saying anything short of that is tantamount to sheer witch hunt, exercise in futility and waste of government funds.
