ON GRAZING RESERVES KADUNA STATE

Image
BY JOHN DANFULANI  PhD   Some months ago, FGN via its Minister  of Agriculture Mr. Audu Obge indicated its intention of creating grazing reserves across the country. FGN assumed that will ameliorate incessant skirmishes between cattle breeders and peasant farmers and improve beef and milk productions. On hearing the resolve of FGN, all Southern Nigeria States and middle-belt communities vehemently kicked against the move. Many cited physical and otherwise risks associated with grazing. And issues involving farmlands under cultivation that might likely be forcefully confiscated for the purpose. While resistance against this was mounting and popular opinion tilting towards its complete rejection, Governor Nasir Ahmed El-rufa'i  joined the fray by volunteering to give FGN lands for the purpose. On hearing his commitment, the umbrella body of Southern Kaduna People SOKAPU and other numerous groups issued strong statements rejecting Governor El-rufa'i's decision. Bec

by  Gabriel Gambo Nmadu It was the second day of Synod 2016 and all delegates awoke to a bright new after a power-packed and spirit-filled opening service the previous day. The delegates were well rested and started the day with their personal morning devotion before gathering at the church auditorium for the general morning devotion. The Synod guest preacher, The Rt. Rev. Dapo Asaju, gave the exhortation on the topic “The Benefits of Righteousness” as further exposition on the Synod theme and took his text from Mark 16:20. In his exhortation, he declared that righteousness is not just who we are but what we are being light to the world adding that the appearance of a righteous person drives the demons away. He emphasized that righteousness should be the ministry and appearance of every Christian and that being in Christian ministry is an easy endeavor because all we are expected to do was to speak the word and God will confirm His word with signs and wonders. Bishop x-rays the state of the nation, calls for fairness

Image
by  Ndeyang Gyang     The Bishop of Kaduna Diocese, The Rt. Rev. Timothy Yahaya, has challenged the Federal Government to be fair to all in implementing their policies. The Bishop was speaking on the state of the nation at the ongoing second session of the twentieth synod of the Diocese of Kaduna holding at St. Christopher’s Church, Kaduna. The challenge is coming on the heels of the mirage of problems bedeviling the country, notable among them is the issue of armed herdsmen who destroy and killed people in their homes citing killings in Agatu in Benue State,  Taraba, Zamfara, Plateau, Nassarawa, Delta, Abia and Rivers, others are Edo, Ekiti, Oyo and Ondo States as well as Enugu State noting that if the trend is left unchecked will undermine the security of Nigeria. The Synod condemned in strong terms the activities of these herdsmen, a situation that raised a poser as to what legal right the herdsmen have to bear arms that other Nigerians do not have. The situation calls fo

The Synod is the Bishop’s first since resuming as Bishop of the Diocese. The Bishop declared that corruption in any form and shade is an act of unrighteousness when expounding on the theme of the Synod “Righteousness Exalts a Nation”. He stressed that corruption is a sin and sin is a reproach to the development of Nigeria. Speaking on the aptness of the theme he said, “In times like this, when spiritual and moral structures are disintegrating, when pervasive skeptism and mistrust are eroding human relationships, no word of trut

THE ECONOMY, STUPID (2)

Image
BY JOHN DANFULANI  From 29th May 2015 to 29th  the value of Nigeria currency the Naira has been steadily  dovetailing. This is the worst moment in the history of the Naira, since coming into existence in the early 70s. Several local and international reports ruled; the Naira was the world worst performing currency within the period in focus. Tfocusst time a political clime in the black world saw a currency nosedived in such a supersonic speed was when some Western Powers and international financial institutions slammed racially inspired sanctions on Zimbabwe because of Gen. Robert Gabriel Mugabe's lands reclaiming policies. Instead of blaming their monetary policies and reckless financial  bailout to some States that rapidly depleted the country's foreign reserve, they blamed their immediate predecessor for leaving a slim foreign reserve. Very little blames were linked to the fall of the global prices of the crude- the country's highest source of revenue.  Stati

THE ECONOMY, STUPID (1)

Image
BY JOHN DANFULANI  On 29th May 2015, PMB inherited the world's third fastest growing economy. CNN money and Michael Bloomberg reported that Nigeria's economic growth was next to China and Qatar. Similarly, reports of  the World Bank, IMF and other international financial institutions holds that, Nigeria's economy is the biggest in continental Africa. And with potentials of making it to the club of world's top 20 economies. Within six months of PMB's administration, all these gains evaporated for lack of: sound economic policies; experienced economic management team;  and consistent inconsistencies in monetary policies. Today, the situation has graduated  from economic stagnation to a recession. No special wisdom is needed to know that, PMB and his team lack the knowhow of immediate measures that will  stimulate growth and begin the process of "de-recessing" the economy. One is not an apostle of doom and negativity but, it's clear; the econo

FEMI FANI KAYODE SUPPORT PRINCE HENRY NWAZURUAHU SHIELD COMMENTS ON FACEBOOK

“Their HATE for President Goodluck Jonathan justifies the suffering in the land. Recession matters not. Hunger matters not. Loss of jobs matter not. Polio matters not. Making a mess of the naira matters not. Fulani Herdsmen matter not. High cost of foodstuffs matter not. Chibok matters not. We have men consumed by their hate for Jonathan and it matters not if Nigeria burns” – PRINCE HENRY NWAZURUAHU SHIELD, FACEBOOK, AUGUST 11th 2016. How right Prince Shield is. His contribution is not only courageous but also insightful and profound. The Buharists and  the “lying liars” are blinded by their hate for Jonathan and for those of us that have chosen to stand by him. It is so bad that if their wives were made pregnant by another man they would say that it was Jonathan that was responsible. Yet their record of governance is clear and there for all to see. In one year and two months of President Buhari and his APC’s “Mai Chanji”, Nigeria has become a very different place to what it was b

SUN RISE AT DUSK IN SOUTHERN KADUNA AS NASIRU JAGABA-SOKAPU NATIONAL YOUTH PRESIDENT RESIGNS FROM KADUNA STATE CIVIL SERVICE.

By  Victor Kwara. Victorkwara34@gmail.com 07033760545  “…I just tendered my resignation letter with Kaduna State government because my conscience leaves me with no other choice…so as to stand with my people…I call for radical departures from the destruction of Southern Kaduna…”  Nasiru Jagaba August 3rd, 2016.     Imagine Nasiru Jagaba taking medicine when his household is sick! Most human actions or decisions are made in order to solve or create problems. Hence, it is a truism that there is no human act that is not worth interrogating as there always exist implications thereof, thus, failure to choose between two variables is itself a choice which is natural. Unlike animals, rational beings are bound to choose between two extremes. Human choices in themselves are meant for the common good or egoistic ends; hence, one good decision taken at the right time and place has the potency to make everlasting change as it affects the person and or his milieu. When an altruistic deci

At the Court of Appeal,Abuja Divison - HEARING (Part 1)

Image
It was a very a busy day,a day that started the safe journey of impunity in God's own State. The court room was filled to the brim. Lawyers in their numbers filled the room all dressed in their legal regalia. The concerned representatives were all there. Other artists who play a role at one point were also there. I place before you a chronicle of what transpired and facts that must be considered before taking a position. It is better to prepare for the worst and get the opposite than the otherwise... The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) withdrew from the appeal filed by the Abia,Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, at the Court of Appeal, Abuja division, against the ruling of the Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court Abuja in Favour of Dr.Uche Ogah. INEC lawyer, Barr. Tanimu Inua told the court that the commission is not urging the court for anything, but that INEC will rely and abide by the decision of the court. "To what end is your brief that does not urge anythin

GBAGYI PEOPLE: ONWARD TO THY SHRINES

Image
By                        John Danfulani, Ph.D                           Jondanfulani@gmail.com   On Monday the 8th August 2016 Governor El-Rufa'i and his council resolved to walk through their inhuman plan to reduce structures in Gbagyi Villa to rubbles. Occupants of Gbagyi Villa were given three on months notice disappear from the area or face the bulldozers and other structures demolishing machines. So far, the airwaves are busy announcing this decision for the consumption of the general public and the people of Gbagyi Villa.   Their resolution has once more confirmed that  they don't give a damn to the globally known legal principle that once a case is in court, all parties ceased action. That aside, residents of Gbagyi Villa have secured an injunction stopping Mr. El-rifa'i's purported intentions of pulling down their structures, pending when the court will make its ruling. Even with this, Mr. El-rufa'i and his council aren't willing t

IS EL-RUFA'I OKAY?

Image
By                    John Danfulani, Ph.D                   Johndanfulani@gmail.com He is not. Sure, he isn't.  Most of his decisions suggests; he is clueless, visionless, rudderless, and astronomically detached from realities on ground. His activities from 29th May 2015 to date certified the cliche that, you can be highly educated and still act like a chronic illiterate who has never seen the four walls of a formal class. His request to and approval by the Federal Government of Nigeria(FGN)  of surrendering of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Sir Ahmadu Bello roads situated in the Western bypass and the middle of Kaduna city is one of such crazy decisions that has kept tongues rolling. Other states are busy lobbying to see that more roads in their jurisdictions are taken over by FGN because of the huge resources at the disposal of the FGN. Between 1999-2000 the then Minister of Works and Housing Sen. Isaiah Chawai Balat converted many state's roads in Kaduna to Fede

IRRESPONSIBILITY OF THE FG OWNED PARASTATAL

Image
My source was in the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) today, he said that he can’t believe what he saw and heard from the management staff of NIMC who asked them to contribute money to buy diesel to power the generator if they want to be attended to. Here is my source's statement:  “Am at the National Identity Management Commission now in Port Harcourt and what am seeing now is terrible. A Federal government owned Agency is asking Nigerians to contribute to buy diesel to power the plant before they can operate and serve customers. Staffs of the agency are seen collecting tips from customers. This is not rumour because am right here now” The question now is, didn’t the Federal Government allocate money for logistic to this office?

You’re a total failure -Factional chieftain of APC

Image
Hussaini  Mairiga slamed President Buhari, he said that the president is a total failure for betraying the confidence of the poor masses who voted him into  office. Mairiga is the factional chairman of the APC Kano State chapter. He said that it’s not longer news that most Nigerians hardly eat one square meal a day due to the hardship, he further said that some  men ran away from home because  they can’t cater for their families. Furthermore, he said prices of commodities now tripled it usual price while bag of rice is sold at #16,000 per bag. He decried  the  state of poverty in the nation due to poor policies of the Buhari led administration. He however said that it’s very unfortunate that this inflation of vital commodities occur at a time where even the money to purchase these expensive commodities is scarce. Mairiga is known for his bluntness. He blamed the people close to the president of not telling him the true situation of things. Source: Premium Times

SOARING ECHOS OF RESTRUCTURING

By                      John Danfulani, Ph.D                     Johndanfulani@gmail.com In my Op Ed of 29th July 2016 titled " LET IS TALK, NOW IS TIME", I admonished; Nigerians must surmount courage and accept the fact that, their protracted pretense over long standing questions bordering its political structure and corporate existence be answered, right away. I capped up my discourse by saying, there is nothing to lose but political conjugal chains that representative of British Colonial office  Lord Lugard tied round our wrists since 1914. Characteristically, my counsel was greeted with sundry conspiracy theories; a national ethics of  diverting attention from poignant national questions raised. While unpatriotic and dissimulative elements were busy throwing scud missiles of discontentment to my postulation and fruitlessly struggling to desecrate my appeal were at work, the former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Mr. Atik
