OPEN LETTER TO AHMED ASIWAJU BOLA TINUBU

BY GENERAL ADEYINKA ADEBAYO IYIN EKITI.      My dear Asiwaju, I am compelled to write this open letter to you because of the state of affairs of the Yoruba nation. Firstly, I wish to acknowledge that fate has put you in a prime position to determine to a large extent the direction that the Yoruba people will go. The indisputable truth is that one may quarrel with your politics but your sagacity is never in doubt. Even those who don't see eye to eye with you agree that you are imbued with unusual native intelligence, uncommon people skills and unrivaled foresight. You, more than any other person, has been the game changer since the advent of democracy in 1999. It is for these reasons that I have chosen to direct this letter to you. My singular purpose is to tug at the strings of your heart. I am not writing to appeal to partisan considerations but to see, if per chance, I can pour out my heart to you in a manner of speaking. God has blessed you even beyond your wildest imagina

IS TIWA SALVAGE IN ILLUMINATI?

Image
Can a Nigerian celebrity become a member of Illuminati? Is Tiwa Savage one of them? What video proves do we have? Read the article about the secret order right now! Have you ever wonder is there any Illuminati members in Nigeria? There is a huge possibility of that! Popular Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, will soon lose the love of her numerous Nigerian fans by the recent appearance that has made people accuse girl of entrance into the controversial cult of the Illuminati. Last Friday at the popular One Music Festival event, Tiwa made Nigerian fans extremely proud and happy as she made a splendid performance electrifying the excited audience with her perfect voice and extremly flexible body. Nevertheless, honors soon may disappear after she has apparently displayed widely believed Illuminati sign at the end of her spectacular performance in Brooklyn. The assumption appeared yesterday, when Queen Mavin shared the trailer of the upcoming US tour. And in the middle of a

The Court of Appeal has ordered a status quo ante bellum in the Abia State governorship tussle

Image
By Mike Odeholonta Although the Court of Appeal has ordered a status quo ante bellum in the case where the Governor of Abia State,  Ikpeazu is battling to keep a seat that has been largely proven to have been obtained by false pretences, hopes are that they decide on it soonest. it is however trite that like the proverbial strong man that dispossess a child of his piece of meat and raises his hands handsd the reach of the child, when his hands starts paining him, he will bring it down for the child to recover his possession. One interesting aspect of law is that both parties indulge in advocacy to justify their position once a brief has been perfected no matter how spurious. That is why lawyers never lose cases but clients do. In all fairness, if facts be relied on to determine who should be sitting on the coveted seat of Abia State Governor, Uche Ogah should be the person for reasons that I shall canvass. Many have argued that Ogah laid an ambush forIkpeazu by filing

LET US TALK,NOW IS TIME!

By   John Danfulani,Ph.D Jondanfulani@gmail.com "A stitch in time saves nine" Ancient Proverb Even before the lowering of the Union Jack on 1st October 1960,certain  forces have asked pertinent questions bordering the 1914 political solemnization of Northern and Southern protectorates by representative of the Crown Lord Legard. The colonial master's amalgamation hatched a federal entity that its experience can't be found in any pre-existing federal structures in developed and less developed worlds.More to that, reasons that instigates units and constituents to hem a federal political setting are totally absent in Nigeria experience. Because reasons that gingered the  colonial master's welding of Southern and Northern protectorates were centred on their exploitative economic interest and administrative conveniences, dissenting voices were surprised. After every round of protestation, colonial masters merely convocated constitutional conferences at

IKPEAZU'S INORDINATE LOST AND THE COST

Image
By Mike Odeholonta   As if the game is gradually winding up  for the outgoing Chief Executive Of Abia, and being very reluctant to let go easily, Ikpeazu has chosen to play another smart one . One can recall that the drama that surrounded the disappearance of the Chief Judge of the State immediately Uche Ogah was declared the winner. That itself paralyzed the activities of judicial officers for close to a week and followed closely by Ikpeazu 's declaration almost a week holiday in the state and his subsequent rent-a-crowd antics. These also cost the state over a billion naira in terms of economic loss. By all these,Ikpeazu hoped to achieve three things, one to make sure he sways public opinion to his side, maintain his grip on the state by blackmailing judicial officers into giving favorable judgements and finaly to paint his rival closest and the incoming Governor as black as the devil so that he wont be acceptable to Abians. Many of Ikpeazu's aides have

THE FAJUYI SPIRIT

Image
By  Femi Fani Kayode Fifty years ago today, on July 29th 1966, a man by the name of Major General Francis Adekunle Fajuyi gave his life in defence of our country and the then Head of State, General Johnson Thomas Aguiyi-Ironsi. His killers were a group of northern army officers who participated in the so-called northern "revenge coup" of July 29th 1966. No less than 300 Igbo army officers were slaughtered that night together with a handful of yoruba soldiers, including Fajuyi. Major General Fajuyi was a yoruba man who opted to die in defence of an igbo Head of State. This was not only honorable and courageous but it was also unique and unprecedented. He was a selfless hero and a man that we shall honor and immortalise in the new Nigeria that is to come. Those that murdered him, General Aguiyi-Ironsi and the famous 300 in cold blood  that night are still running the affairs of our country till today. They determine who is who and who gets what. They decid

ANARCHISM AND DICTATORSHIP IN KADUNA

Image
By                           John Danfulani, Ph.D                          Jondanfulani@gmail.com "Rebellion to tyranny is obedience to God" Thomas Jefferson A few months after delivering his inaugural speech in Murtala Square Kaduna, pronouncements and actions of Governor Nasir Ahmed El-rufa'i started signaling the beginning of a strange political culture premised on executive orders, instead of legislations by Kaduna State House of Assembly(KDSHA). Hiding under the canopy of reforms and quests for a slimmer and efficient government, many unethical and unprofessional decisions were taken without pondering on the short and long term negative consequences of his actions. Take a look at these actions by His Excellency Nasir Ahmed El-rufa'i since assumption of office on 29th May 2015. 1. He retired Permanent Secretaries without observing the State's civil service rules like ;paying them their entitlements, number of years left b

KADUNA STATE AND THE ROLE OF CIVIL SOCIETY IN THE GOVERNANCE PROCESS

Image
by  Yusuf Ishaku Goje It was the present Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki Moon, who rightly posited that the “civil society is the oxygen of any democracy”. This is more evident in advanced democracies where the civil society groups continue to play active roles in the leadership selection and decision making processes as regards governance. In the case of emerging democracies such as the one in Nigeria; the civil society groups are yet to have the required space to actively and meaningfully participate in and influence the processes of governance. This can be attributed to the manner in which the civil society has evolved over the years. The civil society has been central in the victory against colonialism and military dictatorship; thereby building capacity and reputation more towards activism and protest. Due to their modus oparandi, they have been mistakenly equated by successive governments as political opposition rather than partners in progress. Wha

Fundamentalism - 3

BY                                                 GEORGE MAKERI  aka  CHEESMASTER   "...Buhari is not fighting corruption; he is fighting corrupt persons... To fight corruption is tto strengthen the institutions..." - Bishop Kukah. Earlier on, I felt I was the only one seeing this fact as posited by Kukah. This is where the APC urchins missed it. In their sadism, they feel fighting corruption is akin to chasing down all PDP strongmen to their entertainment by their strongman Buhari. And I wrote then: 'what happens if Buhari ? 'Ko bazai mutu bane?' My argument then was, Buhari should instead build institutions that will make it aitost impossible for people to be corrupt and not just chasing corrupt people in PDP only for him to die and corruption continues. Unfortunately, these institutions we are expecting Buhari to strengthen are the same institutions he is weakening. Check out the compulsory retirement in the army and the massive recruitments of bokoha

Kaduna Will Be Great Again - 309

Image
BY GEORGE MAKERI  aka  CHEESMASTER   Our guest speaker for today is Jesse David. In this piece, Jesse identified the primary responsibility of government as security and basic welfare of the people. However Jesse and all other rational thinkers can not understand why Governor El-Rufai is operating in the reverse. The governor is yet to provide security for the teeming population of southern Kaduna, but he is providing grass for his Laduga fulani herdsmen responsible for these attacks in the heart of southern Kaduna. The three basic needs of man are food, clothes and shelter and since the inception of this government, the governor has not done anything to improve on the welfare of the people, but he wants to pull down Gbagyi Villa that was built by citizens, not him, just to leave behind, sorrows, tears and blood. In saner climes, government build houses for citizens. In Kaduna, Governor El-Rufai demolishes houses of citizens. Jesse wants government to set her priority righ

Fundamentalism - 4

Image
By  GEORGE MAERI aka  CHEESMASTER In the second episode of this series, a certain Jaafar Jaafar gave us a glimpse into one of the numerous darkness of fundamentalism, using a multi-million naira ultra-modern abattoir in Chalawa Kano, abandoned to rodents, reptiles, shrubs, in the eighties as an example. Today, Dr. John Danfulani took us on a merry-go-round of justice. The doctor is happy that the FG respect the wishes of the people of Kano to abandon the film village project on the premises of values and culture, regardless of the economic prospect. The doctor feels such respect should also be extended to the southern Kaduna people and other Nigerians against the unpopular grazing land reserve and other related regional issues. I hope the fundamentalism of Mr. President doesn't lead him into using 95 to 5 percentage as defence for sectionalism and religious bigotry and suppression? KANO FILM VILLAGE:A LESSON FOR OTHER NIGERIANS

Image
By John Danfulani,Ph.D    Jondanfulani@gmail.com Not long ago,the old and new media told Nigerians that the Federal Government of Nigeria(FGN) is nursing the ambition of establishing a film village in Kano( North Western Nigeria). It must be part of FGN's effort to support the infant film industry to enable it compete( in quality not quantity) with the U.S.Hollywood and India Bollywood film industries. That goes with the anticipation  that the industry will provide employment opportunities to Nigerians and open a stable source of revenue to Governments. Kano was chosen because there is already a crawling Hausa movie industry there called Kaniwood. Kaniwood  is competing with other films milling centres of South Eastern and  Western Nigeria.Today, DSTV through its portal called AFRCA MAGIC is broadcasting Yoruba films from South West, Ibo films from South East and Hausa films from North.Statistic shows that most of the films from the north were produced  and promoted by  Ka

NIGERIA’S PRESENT PREDICAMENT & THE CHALLENGE OF EXCLUSIVE GOVERNANCE

Image
By Mike  Maikarfi  Why are we here? I mean, why is our country where it is now? In my own view, four major factors are responsible for this sorry state of our nation. Startled by the current situation staring us at the face, many pundits have tried to examine the state of the nation from various angles and to proffer solutions. We all know how we have most often than not being engaged on discussions over national affairs in various fora. Yet, it is clear our nation is daily drifting far away from our desired destination. I was making a trip to a town where one of the ancient railway stations was located in North-Western Nigeria. The day was cool and cloudy as I navigated my way on the tarred road with thick forest on both sites enveloping the whole atmosphere into a serene and calm climate for meditation. This happened to be the day that Mr. President flagged off the Abuja – Kaduna modern railway line service. As I meditated along that trip, then it got dawned o

Flood is predicted in Kaduna, Lagos, Makurdi and Yola by expert

Image
The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency has predicted flash flood in Lagos, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Sokoto, Kaduna, Maiduguri, Makurdi and Yola. Speaking at the unveiling of the 2016 annual flood outlook, the Director General of the agency, Dr Moses Beckley has urged state governments to put in place artificial reservoirs to check the flow of the flood. Nigeria has experienced its fair share of flooding over the years and its attendant consequences. In 2012, Nigeria witnessed what has been described as the most devastating flood in its history. Since then, the Nigeria Hydrological Service Agency has been making public the flood outlook for each year. Advertisement This year’s prediction sees a higher flooding than last year and the areas to be affected are mostly urban areas. The outlook also predicts that some of the nation’s rivers would overflow its bounds. It predicted river flooding in Niger, Benue, Sokoto-Rima, Anambra Imo, Cross River and Ogun-Osun rivers. The outlook serves a

LEGISLATURE PADDED N481 BILLION IN 2016 BUDGET

Image
Despite strident denials by top officials of the National Assembly, it has been discovered that the legislators padded the 2016 budget to the tune of N481 billion. Documents obtained by Vanguard showed that apart from padding the budget with the huge sum, forcing the Presidency to raise alarm over it, NASS also unilaterally jerked the votes meant for constituency projects from N60 billion to N100 billion. Buhari presents N6.08trn 2016 budget to NASS File photo: Buhari presents N6.08trn 2016 budget to NASS But the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Abdul Jibrin, who was fired last week, had said the Speaker allowed 10 committee chairmen to insert projects worth N284 billion and washed his hands off the illegal action. The House leadership, however, said Jubrin was fired for fixing the budget, a development he vehemently denied. Vanguard found out from the document exclusively obtained from the National Assembly that the lawmakers ingenious
