Anjeed Innova Group Signs Power Purchase Agreement with Federal Government

Anjeed Innova Group marked a giant step closer to seeing the Kafanchan Solar Project come to life as the Group CEO Mr Gideon Nyan was among the front runners solar signed the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Federal Government of Nigeria through Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET) on the 21st of July.

Mr. Nyan, stated in Abuja after the final page of the PPA had been singed “the signing is to pave way for the commencement of the 100MW solar photovoltaic power project located in Kafanchan, Jema’a LGA in Kaduna State worth $200 million dollars.”

The company is taking a leading processes to grid connection for the project, which upon completion of the Project, Jema'a Local Government should be able to meet its 7.5MW peak energy demand for Jema’a, Zango, Jaba, and Kaura Local Governments. Survey shows that Kafanchan area requires 5MW, while the rest of the other LGAs need 2.5MW. Thus with the generation of 100MW, such could permit excess power generated to be transmitted to Jos, Plateau State and beyond in respect of the increase in demand of energy with growing population which corresponds with structural reforms.”.

The president of the Group Mr. Thomas Sherman expressed his joy over the PPA signing that “this is a great moment for Nigeria and for all the project stakeholders who have been waiting a long time for the signing of the PPA and would now enable the leadership team to look to the future and mobilize resources for the next stage”.

Also Col. Boman T. Kachimrtd the board chairman, stated that“the project will empower the communities through social and human capital development, transform the societal economic, environmental and social structure, create sustainable value by working at the grassroots level through training unskilled labourers but also give Kaduna State a sense of pride“

Experiences across the globe have shown that without reliable energy there can be no meaningful infrastructural development in the society. On the other hand, lack of infrastructure impedes social development. It is on this ground that we see Anjeed Kafanchan 100MW Solar Project as a fundamental first step in Anjeed Innova Group’s contribution to transforming power production to increase availability, which in turn will benefit humanity.
